Campus & Community Engagement

Outside the classroom, I am deeply committed to making connections between **academia** and the broader **community**. I actively engage in **outreach efforts** aimed at **recruiting undergraduate and high school students** to Spanish language and study abroad programs, with a focus on broadening access and encouraging participation from historically underrepresented groups.

My work with the **local community** includes organizing **Latino cultural events** and **workshops**, designed to foster intercultural dialogue and celebrate diversity within the community. One of my most rewarding projects is the creation of a **Spanish bilingual storytime** for young children, focused on Latinx-authored and illustrated picture books. The project is enriched by the dedication of Spanish student volunteers, who contribute as guest readers and assist local children and their families craft activities. This literacy initiative is financially supported by grants which allow for Spanish and bilingual book giveaways to families. Each session also includes a related craft or cultural activity, allowing young learners to engage with the stories in creative and meaningful ways. Through this project, I hope to inspire a love of reading while promoting cultural exchange and bilingual literacy.
